Tribute to Olivia Newton-John
Benefit show for Parkinson Estrie
On February 22, at the Waterloo House of Culture, a Tribute to Olivia Newton-John was held. A benefit show for the benefit of Parkinson Estrie which featured Manon Carrier. Accompanied by her musicians and dancers, Manon Carrier charmed the audience by performing Olivia’s greatest hits of the 70s and 80s such as Grease, Xanadu and Physical.
Wishing to highlight, in a significant way, the birthday of her brother suffering from Parkinson’s disease, Manon Carrier did not hesitate to support Parkinson Estrie through this benefit show. A show that allowed many people with Parkinson’s disease and their loved ones to live in the moment and spend a pleasant evening.
Thanks to the participation of the 91 people present and the generosity of Manon Carrier and her musicians, $2000 was raised for the benefit ofParkinson Estrie.
This support will certainly be used to further the organization’s mission of offering services to people with dementia and their loved ones, as well as to support research.
Significantly affecting the quality of life of those affected and their loved ones, this degenerative disease affects nearly 25,000 people in Quebec. It affects the central nervous system and is characterized by a progressive loss of coordination of movements, tremors, muscle stiffness, difficulty speaking and walking Not to mention the many non-motor symptoms that are rarely talked about, such as anxiety, depression, loss of smell, etc.
Parkinson Estrie is the regional resource with the expertise to help people living with Parkinson’s disease and their loved ones. The organization also aims to inform the population about this incurable disease, which is still, unfortunately, very little known and recognized.
